Wankdorf - 31k spectators - epic win.

Wankdorf - 31k spectators - epic win.

But it’s not all about WoW. This is not an off topic post and many of you American readers won’t understand a thing if I talk about soccer. If you’re into sports you might know where I’m coming from: The team of my home town hasn’t won a title in 22 years. And for me, supporting and enjoying my team doesn’t mean just turn on the TV, but go to the stadium, be it here in Berne or anywhere across Switzerland. Thursday I saw the most epic game in years that peaked in a penalty shoot out my team won, of course against just the team you’ll always want to win against. Rethinking that night still gives me goose bumps.

My absence on Thursday didn’t stop my guild from destroying Iron Council and XT-002. I’m really proud that I’m part of this guild, those guys really know how to raid, how to adapt strategies and come up with new ideas when the old one won’t work.

Yesterday I was raiding again. We spent a long time on Ignis, but as not all issues seemed hotfixed, and loads of people got oneshot by a melee hit when put in the slag pot. Whenever we were lucky with the slag pot, an offtank stood too long in the fire when melting constructs. Apparently the slag pot/melee hit issue has been hotfixed, but I believe it when I see it.

Advice for all resto shamans: if other healers struggle with healing slag pot victims, step up and take that job. Set up the debuff in grid and those tidal wave hastened LHWs/HWs will do wonders. Have your riptide off cooldown the moment the Flame Jets hit, so you can do some healing while mid-air.

Because Ignis just wouldn’t hand over that loot, we headed over to Kologarn. This was the second boss after Razorscale I thought was pretty easy. Just define a path that the victims of Focused Eyebeam have to run and you’ll do fine. We ignored the left arm and killed the right arm whenever it was up (maybe it would be even better to only kill it when it grips players?). The fight itself is pretty forgiving and you can kill him with half of the raid dead, this makes bloodlust early a good choice.

Next up was Auriaya. This boss in nothing more than one big annoying pull. The big stony girl gets followed by four kitties. If those cats are close to each other they will buff each other with Strength of the Pack which has a 10 yd range. If you engage all four kitties when they’re close to each other, all have the buff four times, that equals +200% damage. Another annoying thing: They will jump at you with a 30 yd range and do ouchy. If just let them come at you when pulling, all four will jump at the closest target and kill it in a second. And they have to be tanked more than 30 yd from each other or they will jump around like crazy during the fight.

How we did it: pull the pack with a hunter pet, the whole raid is out of LoS. All tanks burn their cooldown at pull, shieldwall, last stand, the whole gang. Two cats were tanked more than 30 yd away from the raid, the lady and two cats in the raid itself, which requires an insane amount of tank healing, this gets better as soon as kitties start dying, the lady can be ignored until all four Sanctum Sentries are down. One minute into the fight a Feral Spirit spawns. He is nearly non-tankable and rushes through the raid damaging everyone. The most annoying thing: the moment he dies he creates a void zone, so don’t kill it while the whole raid is close to it. We didn’t do that, but of course the feral spirit died while it was hammering on me and let me watch the rest of the first kill lying face down in a void zone. Other pull strategy I have seen that worked great: Have a hunter pull the pack while it is walking away from the raid, not When it approaches the raid (she’s patrolling). Just somehow try to pull the cats so they run towards you one behind the other and not in one pack or they will jump at one target with all four buffs up.

Last bat not least we paid visit to Freya. No news there, as we didn’t really intended to work on her. It was good getting to know the not so easy trash that leads to her and it was fun engaging her while joking around, I think we’ve earned that after some 6-7 hours of raiding. I’ll sure meet her again tonight.

That’s it for today. Remember: Eye beams bad, kitties bad, void zones bad. That’s all.

Please let me know what you’re working on right know and if you have any tips for an ulduar boss, no matter if resto shaman specific or not.

Sorry doc, I’m a man full of prejudices. But seriously: How can anyone turn the best sport ever into a sport for girls and wimps. That’s just cruel.

though i do not like it, nor am i interested in it… i would hope to give a listening ear to something someone is passionate about as much as i would hope they would listen to me ramble on about American REAL football (hehe) or Warcraft…

    kudos to you, sir!

Nice! Glad you guys got to see some progress.

My guild ventured into Ulduar this past Sunday for the first time (10 man), and we got Flame Leviathan down no problem. The trash before Ignis gave us some trouble, and we got a few good attempts on Razorscale.

Hopefully next week we’ll add another boss or two to our kill list!
