Drug's UI

Update 5.6.: Should now work out of the box, some addons updated, some addons dropped. Click for raid screenshot, I hope I’ll remember to take a screenshot while actually targeting something in the near future.

My last article about shaman addons included a screenshot of my UI and I got many questions about specific addons I use and some requests if I could upload my UI.

First things first: My UI is heavily based on Dawns UI Compilation and his oUF layout oUF_slim. All credits go to Dawn as I really didn’t do anything else than move some frames around, position grid in the middle of the screen and done.

Anyways, I’ll upload my UI and give a quick explanation of what the addons included do. I won’t give much support, that’s just too time consuming.

Download

Instructions:

  1. Back up your files: WTF folder, Interface folder, the whole gang.
  2. Screen resolution is 1680×1050.Set uiScale to “0.84999996423721″ in your Config.wtf. Alternatively copy my Config.wtf in your WTF folder (it’s in the optional .rar). You should do this BEFORE you copy my addons onto your hard drive.
  3. Copy my files into your folders. I’m far too lazy to clean everything up so you might have some savedvariables/addons you don’t need.
  4. Load profiles: Grid = Drugfreeyth of Area 52, Bigwigs = slim, ora2 = Drugfreeyth of Area 52, Auracle = Drugfreeyth of Area 52, ChocolateBar = Default, MSBT = Default (Dominos = Default).
  5. Varia: sThreatmeter2 can be moved through the Interface – Addons window. Frames/Latency can be moved if you hold down ALT and drag it. You’ll get to many config windows if you click on the little Rocket on your ChocolateBar. If you have low fps, tweak graphic options and delete recount.
  6. Enjoy or post a comment if something doesn’t work.

Optional: in the addons folder, there is a file called optional.rar. It includes: config.wtf, Dominos (if you don’t like ractionbarstyler), oUF_Asym (if you’d like to try out another layout) and rActionButtonStyler – slimstyle media (copy the textures into ractionButtonstyler if you want textures to match the oUF_slim style).

Addons used in alphabetical order:

!LynColors: Changes the colors of classes/npc/hostile

Align: Lays a grid over your screen, helping you to align your stuff on your UI. Toggle with /align.

AtlasLoot_Enhanced: Browsing through boss loot in combat is maybe not a good idea.

Auctionator: AH stuff. I like to sell in stacks of 5.

Auracle: Tracks important raid debuffs.

BadBoy: Anti-spam.

BankStack: Sorts my inventory/bank.

BasicChatMods: Modifies my chat frame in various ways. Timestaps are deactivated as I don’t care about the exact time of a message I get. I added disabling of fading, not necessary for my layout.

Big Wigs Bossmods: Another step towards shiny loot.

Broker_Recount: Toggle Recount with your LDB addon.

Butsu: Pretty loot frame

cargBags and cargBags_Pernobilis: Pretty bag, very minimalistic. cargBags_Pernobilis is the layout, other layouts should be available soon.

Chicchai: This addon will minimize your chat window after 40 seconds and maximize it on mouseover and on specific events. If you don’t like this addon, deactivate it. But you’d have to add outlining of chat font somewhere else if you want that feature, it’s included in Chicchai.

ChocolateBar: Displays your LDB addons at the top of your screen.

Clique: Makes my mouse do fun stuff with grid. It is configured to work with grid and for shaman spells. You can access it in your spells window and adapt it to your liking/class.

dArt: Dawn saves all his textures/fonts in this addon. You don’t need to load this addon, but don’t delete the folder!

dBar2: Dawn’s additional action bar. I reduced it to 4 buttons and used his vertical alignment. I use it to keep track of cooldowns, especially of Riptide. If you want to change the alpha -> change the value in the dFader .lua.

dFader: This addon hides some stuff if you don’t have a target and shows it when you have a target.

dMinimap: Dawn’s very pretty minimap. Various shapes/textures can be enabled in the .lua. Also moves around the quest tracker.

Doom_CooldownPulse: Flashes the icon of an ability that comes off the cooldown.

DoubleWide: Makes quest window double wide.

evl_NamePlates: Pretty Name plates.

Fane: Pretty chat tabs.

FogBG: Pretty fog animation on your minimap.

FriendsWithBenefits: Syncs my friends list on all my characters.

Fubar2Broker: Makes some fubar feeds show up in LDB display (e.g. Grid).

gdFont: Changes blizzard’s Damage Font.

Grid: Raidframes. Bottom right corner is Earth shield.

GridManaBars: Adds manabars to your grid frames.

GridStatusRaidDebuff: Adds some important raid debuffs to the center icon.

HatTrick: Toggle Cloak/Helm in character window.

Littlehelpers: Many little tweaks. This addon is no longer available, the author has released a new one called thek!Tools. Some features: styling of the world map, addition of /rl, /ticket or /rc.

MakeRocketGoNow: Access to grid/bigwigs/ora config without cluttering your ChocolateBar with many icons.

MapReveal: The name is pretty self-exploratory. Not up to date, but good enough for my needs.

MikScrollingBattleText: Shows outgoing and incoming events as pretty scrolling combat text.

naiCombo: Adds a combo points frame if you play a rogue or want to fight malygos.

nBuff: Buff replacement by neal. The author doesn’t support this addon but it still works pretty well. Only glitch: If your Weapon buff expires, the buffs loose their duration left numbers. You’ll get them back by applying earthliving weapon. So this bug doesn’t bother me much but helps me keep my weapon buff up all the time.

nClock: Shows Latency/fps/memory usage. Drag with alt held down.

NeedToKnow: Tracks buffs/debuffs on target/player/focus.

OmniCC: Cooldown numbers on my action bars.

OpenAll: Opens all your mail or take all your gold out of your inbox.

Ora2: Makes your raid leader pretty happy.

oUF: The core of the oUF framework. Needs a layout to look pretty. Always check which version of oUF your layout supports and don’t try to use it with another one. All the sub-plugins can be disabled if you don’t need their function.

oUF_Banzai: Colors player/raid/focus/tot frames red if they have aggro.

oUF_BarFader: Hides Player/Target Frame if you aren’t casting, in combat, targeting something.

oUF_CombatFeedback: Numbers of incoming damage/healing on oUF frames.

oUF_DebuffHighlight: Highlights units with a debuff but only if you can dispel it.

oUF_slim: The oUF layout. If you want to move stuff around, here’s your place.

oUF_Smooth: Smooth health updates.

oUF_SpellRange: Reduces alpha is players in your group or target is out of range.

picoFriends: Fiends list LDB feed.

rActionBarStyler:  Replaces your actionbars. No GUI, all configuration through .lua. I’ll upload dominos and its savedvariables as well if you don’t like those bars. ATTENTION, Bar1 will only show on mouseover, you can change that in the .lua or switch to Dominos. Everything on Bar1 is keybound and has no cooldown or its cooldown tracked elsewhere so I don’t need to see this bar.

rActionButtonStyler: Makes buttons look pretty. I’ll add the textures if you want the same textures for your buttons as for the rest of the UI.

RatingBuster: Converts a rating into the actual percentage.

Shared Media: Makes some textures/fonts available to other addons. Do not update.

Shields Up: Shaman shields addon.

tekability: Durability in the character frame.

tekErr: Error sink.

tekJunkseller: Sells grey items.

teknicolor: Colors player names in the chat frame.

teksLoot: Minimalistic loot roll frame.

sThreatMeter2: Sometimes I need to watch my threat.

TipTac: Pretty Tooltips.

Totem Timers: Manages my totems.

Voluzimer: LDB volume control.

How many times did I use the word “pretty”? – 13 times.

Please do tell me if everything works as intended.

Quick, albeit clueless question. I stumbled upon your UI about a week ago and eagerly awaited this post. I downloaded everything and am still getting used to it, but I’m clueless on how to tweak things. One thing that I’ve noticed is that the little box that shows up whenever I mouseover anything is in the middle of the screen. Is there anyway I can move this? Thanks.

@Kyle: If you are referring to the tooltip you can access that with /tip. Then in the configuration dialog you can press the [ Anchor ] button to make a small frame appear that you can drag around, additionally you can goto the mouse section to indicate what types of tooltip you want to be fixed or anchored to wherever your mouse is.

Don’t forget to type /align if you want to move stuff around and want it to look properly placed.

Yes that sould do the trick. If something is wrong with this UI, screenshots would help a lot. There might be stuff not working you don’t even notice and screenshots help me spot them.

    hi there,

thanks a lot for your UI and the possiblity to dl it. it really saved me a lot of time (which i actualy don’t have) to get a good looking intuitive gui for my resto. but one question, you don’t use healbot?

    regards
    saw

    btw: great blog

Nope, no healbot. Grid is my raidframes and Clique makes it possible for mouse clicks to interact with grid the same way as healbot does. Grid offers much more room for configuration and looks better. If you’re used to healbot, just disable grid and clique and put healbot in the middle of your screen.

For moving oUF frames you’d have to open the slim_core.lua in the oUF_slimG folder.

      Code to move frames:
      local player = oUF:Spawn("player", "oUF_Player")
      player:SetPoint("CENTER", -250, -200)

      local target = oUF:Spawn("target", "oUF_Target")
      target:SetPoint("CENTER", 250, -200)

      Code to move castbars:
      local playerCastBar_x = -250
      local playerCastBar_y = -45
      local targetCastBar_x = 250
      local targetCastBar_y = -45

Thanks for the great UI! I do have a question though, what addon is the one that displays your fps and memory and how do i move it (it was off centered from the minimap when i downloaded the UI)?

It’s called nClock. Hold down Alt and then drag it to the desired position.

Font Name for all the frames is Roadway. Chat Font is Santana. Main texture is dQ.

This looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it.
Are their features that you don’t have incorporated that you’d like to see?
How did you find out so much about addons in general and where can I learn about them?

    • 2009 May 12

Nope I’m pretty happy with the UI. I will stick to it for some time and then wipe the whole addon folder and try something new. Or maybe I’ll add a little frame with a pony dancing in circles, or maybe not.

I learned a lot about addons just by trying to fix some little bugs/annoyances by myself. I have no coding knowledge, just some common sense and the patience to do some trial&error.

I played for the longest time with just x-perl, totemtimers and healbot. What got me really interested in addons was Acaciaizm MiniMe UI’s. I thought it look really cool but I didn’t like how it looked out of the box so I started playing around, deleting addons and adding new ones. Caith’s UI was the first compilation I used I was really really happy with. But its design is not so healer friendly, that’s why I changed to Lyn’s UI. It’s still the oUF layout I like best and I used for a very long time. And to every compilation I used, I added some own stuff and tweaked some little things. That’s it.

First of all you need to decide which oUF layout you’d want to use. In your screenshot you have oUF_slimG and oUF_Asym active at the same time. oUF_slimG looks ugly because you most probably have deleted oUF_slim, where the textures for oUF_slimG are located.

If you want to use oUF_Asym, just don’t load the oUF_slimG addon on startup.
If you want to use oUF_slimG, copy the oUF_slim into your addon folder again but don’t load it.

Thank you… that fixed it. How do i make it so that it permenantly shows health and % of health on the bars for Asym if you dont mind

Cheers! Really great tips of addons. But; how can i remove the partyframe?

      Open slim_core.lua and scroll to:

      – ————————————————————————
      – spawning the frames
      – ————————————————————————

Now if you delete all text that sounds like party or raid, no party or raid will spawn. Just don’t edit out any normal frames or you won’t see a player/target frame.

Hi man, just found this page and saw your UI, really sweet, but im wondering, is there any way to make it fit my screen resolution? (1280×1024 – not widescreen).

    Thanks again – regards Andreas

Do you have an updated version for 3.2? I like this UI and I used it for my Shamen but since 3.2 I only get LUA-Errors :(

I don’t raid with oUF_Asym any longer, simply because Dawn doesn’t update this compilation any longer. A screenshot of my actual raiding UI can be found here:

      http://www.shieldsup.ch/2009/08/04/32-going-liveback-to-raiding/

I pretty much use Quse UI out of the box, just without the raiding frames but Grid instead. If I feel like raiding with another UI, I switch to Led v1, which looks just beautiful. Both UIs can be found on wowinterface.

I love Quse UI but I prefer grid as well. Can you post or send me the config files that you use? How goes it with 3.3? Looks like the minimap is broken other than that looks good. Haven’t raided with it yet though.
