Patch 3.3 – Impressions
2009 December 10
- Icecrown Citadel looks very cool. It’s exactly the design I like in Warcraft: cold, undead, frost wyrm-y and evil. I think Ulduar was a great instance, but the whole Colossus design wasn’t my cup of tea.
- The first two bosses of ICC were recycling of bosses we’ve already seen. I can’t say though I didn’t like it or wouldn’t look forward to the heroic modes.
- The new LFG tool is excellent. As damage dealer you’ll have some waiting time, but as tank or healer it’s a guaranteed instant group. Also, I like the cross server grouping. All random groups were very nice and polite.
- The new heroic instances are pretty decent. Sadly, because I dragged most of my alts through ToC10, I can’t really farm them for upgrades. I absolutely love the pace of the instances though, the boss fights are gorgeous and the instance is in fact a challenge for random groups (and for my as a tank).
- The Quel’Delar questline is lovely. Hammer of Purified Flame is mine, MINE!
- Blizzard likes the combination of fireworks and bear butts.
Tell me about your first moments in 3.3.

I agree with all of the above. So far, so good.
Also, it has been extremely stable when I’ve been on, not something I usually expect so close after a patch.

The jump packs are pure awesome and we had to take a 15 minute break so raiders could just jump around. It got me laughing, espcially when we figured hoew to get up into the rigging abovethe ship and what not.
But I was in tears of laughter after seeing ‘rocket-arse-bear’.
I can see it geeting used in the blogsphere mercilessly.
Gobble gobble.

After having abandoned my Shaman in favor of a Death Knight Tank (yes I said Tank, I can’t stand to DPS with it, or better put I just love tanking!). I am still going to be playing with the shaman specially now that triumphs are up for grabs, so I’ll have him regeared quickly.
For our battlegroup (Cyclone-EU) on patchday the servers were stable but we had tremendous instance lag none the less, but after 2 hours we had the first boss dead luckily.
As a tank I have no waiting time or at the most 20-30secs, the group composition is usually good, ie. I havent had 3 DK’s in the group, or 3 Mages (yet!) so I like that, versatile players and nice amount of buffs, since I queued right after the raid I still had 50k HP so the run was smooth luckily but the people you are grouped with are not that far away from your gear level and that’s nice, cause it gives you the sense that you are playing with competent people for the expected level of gear.
The disenchant option is really nice but people still press Greed for offspec and Disenchant always wins over that, so instead of saying: Sorry, trade me, you only have a shard to trade instead of the item they wanted for offspec.
ICC10 we cleared, briliant fights, lots of fun, weekly raid quest we did after last nights raid as a guild aswell so it was very smooth and fast. Still haven’t experienced the new 5mans and thus havent been able to start the Quel’Delar quest line yet, but very much looking forward!
The shamans in our raid are absolutely love being resto in this patch so thats a good sign. Most importantly the atmosphere in the guild has switched from night and day and people are motivated and glad we dont have to go back to TOTGC25 ;>
Unfortunately I am not in a position to be raiding the new Icecrown raids, but everything else I’ve seen about the patch was (for the most part), a thumbs up.
I know you mentioned in earlier posts that you are looking for Resto Shaman bloggers, and you’ve convinced me to begin one. I should have my full thoughts on 3.3 uploaded tonight, if you’d care to take another resto shaman’s perspective.
I love healing and I love this patch for Resto Shamans. ICC looks amazing. The 5-mans are fun and a little challenging (until we learn them) and the 10/25 raid is as well. So far not a single thing I’m disliking in this patch except Blizz needs to OPEN THE GATES ALREADY.
