T10 Shoulders/UI WIP
2009 December 20
Two Screenshots will sum up what I’ve been up to in the last few days: getting my Tier shoulders and working on my UI. The UI is a mix-up of ouf_tewl, Quse UI and pHishr’s UI.
Did you get any new shiny loot? Any new good addons/UI compilations I should know about?

I’ve gotten four items from ICC ten so far….all offspec Enh >.<
Shoulders for resto on Wednesday!!
Vok´s last blog ..Where are all the bloody Rabbits!?!?!
Your font would drive me crazy, I can’t stand pixel fonts in WoW. Other than that, looks slick.
My shaman is really coming along quite nicely with all the new fat loot:

Happy about any feedback what you would improve for her.
I actually raid-healed on her this weekend. Just some Ulduar in our alt/non-progression group, and I had a lot of fun, though I was also somewhat bored, as we were 3 pretty geared healers.
I tried to heal H HoR, tried being keyword. In a guild group we failed at wall 3 in the Arthas event over and over. In a random PUG we never made it past the first boss. It was horrible. Shook my confidence quite a bit.

I think pixel fonts look really cool. BUT, I just can’t read them and my eyes are starting to bleed. And I still don’t get to an as clean UI as I’d want during raids. So, there’s still some tweaking to do.
H HoR is difficult! I still often have to give up in PuGs. I have no chance of completing the event on my druid tank without a priest who shackles. As a tank I struggle a lot with getting the aggro of all the mobs, which is especially difficult when all DPS start to fire the second I charge the first mob. As a shaman healer I can’t really say how difficult the instance is. I’m horribly overgeared. It’s important though to make use of all tools: bloodlust, cleansing totems, wind shear etc. Bloodlust can really save the day.
I think it’s a good thing, having a challenging 5 man instance. In some weeks we’re going to complete the instance in our sleep anyway.
@Garande: That really seems to be going well. You got all the important major upgrades from 5 man heroics. You’re already playing the haste game and this is what you should be doing in the next time. Don’t get rid of all your mp5-heavy pieces though, keep them for heroics/10 mans without replenishment. Also, I don’t see any more big upgrades you could get through emblems of triumph. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47580 could be a good idea though, considered how cheap arctic fur is.
H-HOR is horrible for shaman!
Even though my priest is about 2 tiers of gear below my shaman, it’s still much easier to heal HOR on my priest because of:
1) dispel magic
2) aoe threat drop
3) emergency shackle
I have some upgrades for my ele set in there, but I just hate going there so much that I only run it if a guildie desperately needs it. On my priest it’s kind of a joke.
@drug- I’m jealous of your awesome shoulders! I should have those next week if I can get away from the family festivities long enough to get my heroics in.

I is jealous – Those shoulders are just 100% pure win, stat-wise and visually. Me want.
I am using WoW’s default UI, for the most part. I use XPerl to make my character/target screen larger, but everything is pretty much in the same place as the default. I don’t like using a lot of addons, especially ones that modify my UI, but the way I run things now, things get very cluttered with 25 raid members and all the buffs on targets. Do you have any suggestions for something I could use that wouldn’t change my UI too badly, but would clear up some screen space?+

There is a lot you can do to have a nice clean UI. But every step includes an additional addon. So if you’re comfortable with the default UI, that’s what you should stick to. Some steps you could try though:
-Scale your UI down.
-Get an actionbar addon, only show bars you absolutely need, all the rest can be shown on mouseover. Keybind stuff, so you don’t need too many buttons.
-Get an Unitframes addon and arrange stuff in a clever way. Large health bars, no portraits/3D pictures. No class buttons. Get rid of everything not necessary. Scale down not that necessary stuff.
-Get an LDB addon like Fortress/ChocolateBar/Titanbar and have config buttons redirected to this place.
-Be realistic: raidframes, bossmods, MT targets, this stuff will clutter up your UI, no matter what.
Thanks D. I have a good excuse to go Addon shopping, too, becuase I had to do a full system restore on my computer last night. T_T Hopefully my Video card will hold up for a while longer, too. I’ll check those addons out, and read up on some of your older UI posts, figure out what I might like and what I might not.

Grats on the shoulders, Drug! I think all my relatives and friends were confused when I asked for ghostly talbuks for xmas this year …
