The End
My days of Resto Blogging have come to an end. Mainly, because I just don’t find any time to write. The last few weeks have been pretty taxing. I enjoyed an excellent education at the university, but no matter how good an eduction is, it can’t prepare you for the first few weeks working as a doctor. Since February 1 I didn’t do much else than learning to organize my days, watching the pile of paperwork growing bigger and bigger, talking to patients and trying to understand the shiny world of psychiatry. I’m still working way too much to get my stuff done, but it’s getting better.
Nonetheless, the last thing I’d want to do is sitting in front of a computer and write when I come home. I didn’t stop playing WoW, but my raiding activity is quickly approaching Zero. I still enjoy the game. I absolutely enjoy to be a backup healer once in a while. My times of progression raiding though? Those are over, at least for now.
When I started this blog in November 2008, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect and how far this project would go. I had one big incentive though: There just weren’t many quality resto blogs out there. Especially resto shamans raiding 25 man content seemed to be a rarity in the world of WoW blogging. I liked informing myself through blogs though. Reading EJ is one thing, reading a blog is the other. The personal note every writer gives to his posts is what makes the theoretical content interesting. And even if a resto blog ventures into general ramblings/rants, it’s still interesting to see how fellow shamans see the world (of warcraft). From my early days of reading resto shaman blogs, there’s only one blog which I happily remember: Resto4Now. The blog closing down was my main motivation to start Shields Up!
I’d like to thank everyone who ever took his time to read one of my posts, leave a comment or write me a kind e-mail. Also, a big “thank you” to all fellow bloggers out there who encouraged me, linked to my site, gave me tips and moral support. Out of fear of forgetting to mention someone I won’t drop any names. You guys are really the best.
This blog is probably going to stay up for some more months, at least until my subscription runs out. Maybe I’ll write some random posts from time to time, they might or might not have to do anything with WoW. Drug, the dedicated resto shaman blogger, says good-bye though.
When I saw a new Shields Up! post in my reader, I couldn’t help but guess what it is about. Sadly, my guess was correct.
Many thanks for your intelligent and informative posts, and good luck!
I’ll miss your blog, but I understand. My blogging frequency is quite abysmal, even though I still play WoW. Stay in touch, you know how to reach me via AIM, and I need someone to gab about addons and shamans with. Noch viel Erfolg und alles Gute!
Sorry to see you go Drug. You were one of those bloggers that inspired me to finally start my own resto shaman blog and provide my own perspective. You did it so well that I figured there was little point in trying to do it myself. With you closing down the rest of us will have to step it up like you did.
Best of luck in your new career. Hopefully the administrative stuff will get easier and you can enjoy doing what you’ve been preparing for all these years.

I’ll be missing your blog! Thanks for quality posts, and best of luck in the future.
There definitely is a lack of Resto Shaman blogs out there – hopefully we will see more soon.
Thanks for all the top-notch quality posts. You will be missed! Best wishes for the future in your career, in game, and just in life in general.

Will really miss your blogging, drug. This has been one of my favourite WoW blogs and my go-to source for understandable resto commentary, especially since Healing Way closed down. And as well as your own excellent blogging you also helped bring attention to all the new resto shaman blogs that started up around that time, which was fantastic.
I really enjoyed the personal touch (or “personal note” as you call it) you brought to all your writing as well as the way you could make complicated theorycraft conclusions simple and accessible. Your “Guides” section will still be the place I point enquiring/new resto shamans to so long as the site lasts.
Here’s wishing you all the best for your new career – just don’t forget to relax sometimes ‘kay
Shame to see you go, your blog was the motivation for me to start blogging in the first place and all of your posts were great read for me. Well, you will be missed around, and I hope you will get the hang of your new work soon so you don’t feel so overwhelmed and will find some time for old and new hobbies! Good luck!
Thanks for the good times Drug
Good luck with work and life in general! Ye shall be missed
Thanks. We’ll miss you and good luck for your real life !
Hope to see you posting again for cataclysm
Ack! I just found your blog and it’s over! I understand that RL comes first and foremost but I was excited to find a good resto blog. GL in your future endeavors.
Sad to see you go, I just discovered your blog about that time when I started to play more on my Resto Shaman – there were quite some helpful posts.
Thanks for the good read and good luck in your “new” job

I’m sad to see you go! I found your blog by your post on my blog, helping me with my shaman understanding. I loved reading your posts on shamans, and it helped me so much when I was learning about raiding on my shammy. Thanks for the posts, GL in your career!

thanks for some insightful & informative posts, and for breaking down some of the ‘mathy’ side of theory crafting for dumb shammies like me :]
Thank you for the excellent content, encouragement, and effort you’ve given to the to the WoW community and to resto shamans. You have been a solid resource and, as many will attest, an inspiration. Best of luck to you now in your new position and in the time to come.
Taking liberty with a quote from G. Randolph:
Truly great blogs are hard to find, difficult to let go of, and impossible to forget.
You will be sorely missed.

I’ve been enjoying your blog for a long time. Thanks so much for all the effort you’ve put into writing, I became a better Shaman because of it. Best of luck in your psychiatry career.
Drug, I hate to see you leave because you where the best resto shaman blogger and the only one who gave me pick orders, and also does anyone else know of any other great resto shaman blogs I can read or maybe a pick order for EoF’s I was waiting on?
Congrats on the job. I know what you mean about the time and finding it harder to raid. You added alot to the Resto world and certainly improved my understanding and game. Good luck and hope to cya in game and on the blog. I am going to keep this marked for a long time.
